5 Ways to Surprise Your Mom
Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” – Proverbs 31:28-29
A mother is a gift from God. A mother’s love is one manifestation of God’s love for us. And with Mother’s Day just around the corner, it is only fitting that we honor our mothers. Here are some ideas on how you can celebrate and surprise the special woman in your life:
- Help in the household chores.
Surprising your mom need not be expensive, and one of the best ways to show your love for her is through action. Helping her with household chores will allow her to have more time to relax and spend quality time with the family.
- Create a photo album, slideshow, or video.
Pictures paint a thousand words. Bring back sweet memories by creating an album or a slideshow of your photos with your mom and the rest of the family. You can also make a video with messages from you, your siblings, father, and other relatives.
- Make her a card.
You love your mom and she probably knows it. But sometimes, you just have to say it. Buy her a card or design your own card, and write a personalized, sincere message for her, letting her know just how much she means to you.
- Cook her favorite meal for her.
How many times have you requested your mom to cook your favorite meal? Show her your appreciation by doing the same thing for her! Team up with the rest of the family and plan a surprise lunch or dinner that will surely bring a smile to your mom’s face.
- Take her on a surprise trip.
Go the extra mile by booking a surprise vacation for your mom. Go on a road trip, a day tour, or book a hotel room at a nearby destination. Short on time and budget? Recreate a weekend staycation at home by preparing R&R activities for her–home spa treatments, movie nights, and breakfast in bed!
However you choose to show your appreciation to your mom as you honor her this Mother’s Day, take the time to pray for her. Thank God for her and ask that He continues to bless and refresh her every day with His love, grace, and favor.
Happy Mother’s Day to all moms!
